cancer”prevention is the cure” Are you a Guardian of the Future?
I had the good fortune of attending the 3rd annual Bag Ladies Benefit at The Woodlands Mansion in Woodbury last Thursday evening. Hosted by “Prevention is the Cure, Inc, It was a very well attended. A benefit and silent auction for the awareness to PREVENT Breast Cancer. The HUNTINGTON BREAST CANCER ACTION COALITION (HBCAC), honored Pat Petrone of Huntington that evening. The committee did an excellent job at putting this gala together. Good company, food and with the anticipation of winning a designer bag (new or pre-loved) made the evening a tremendous fun
According to the information distributed that evening:
Prevention is the Cure is a national not-for-profit educational campaign, in partnership with other environmental and cancer organizations that bring a fresh focus on the causes of disease rather than ways of coping with it once diagnosed. They seek to increase public awareness of environmental links to disease, gain support for the Precautionary Principleas it applies to public policy, urge the public to demand more funding for environmental health research and encourage a “better safe than sorry” attitude toward personal lifestyle.
HBCAC has a program called “Students and Scientists” where students have an opportunity to work beside world-renowned researchers at a national state-of-the-art facility. Designed for highly motivated, independent minded students with an academic strength in the sciences of chemistry and biology. For a sample application visit: www.preventionisthcure.org
